A Pathway of Love (A Warriors Road)
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
John 6:35
And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall
never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
“Make a beaten pathway. Come to Me. Make it your practice to approach Me over and over again, so that when I am ready to pour out a fresh work, the way will be made clear.” (by Beth Moore in Jesus, The One and Only)
No matter how routine or ritualistic it may seem, God wants you to approach Him daily, hourly, or minute-by-minute. As the body needs food numerous times a day, so does our spirit, our soul within us. Seek the Lord while he may be found (Isaiah 55:6). Allow Him to nourish your soul. Come and sit. Rest in His loving arms. Receive from Him a spiritual, soul filled refreshment of love, wisdom, and strength. Allow Him to wipe your feet and cleanse your soul of all the dirt and mud of this world. Repent to Him of things done and roads traveled. Allow Him to show you His forgiveness and love. Allow Him to replace your sandals with ones “shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” (Eph 6:15) So you may continue in this race of life (1 Cor 9:25-28)
Run to Him, walk to Him, or at times you may be so wounded and broken that you crawl to Him. When you are this low you can be thankful that you have come to Him often. For not only do you know the way to Him, but also the pathway is “clear of all obstruction”. Picture the wounded warrior bloodied by the attack of the enemy and crawling to safety. Crawling to a place of rest and security and seeing the familiar path of the well-traveled road ahead. His mind clinging to the knowledge that many times before his Savior and Champion has always been there.
Having stopped to gain his strength he glances at the familiar road ahead. Blinking twice, he sees a figure. But it is not standing there. It is running. Running to meet His fallen warrior. Running to grasp His warrior in His arms and carry him. Carry him to His place of safety, of rest, protection, and love. Encircling his warrior with His strength and holding him in His loving arms. Tears of sorrow streaming down His face as He looks over His creation, His pride and joy. Rest warrior, rest. Be still. For by morning your strength will be renewed. Rest warrior, rest. Be still for I am here.
Father in heaven, may I be faithful in this journey of life. May I always beat a pathway to you. May I never loose sight of the path that leads me back to You. May I follow hard after You and forever long to be in Your presence. Once there, may I willingly allow You the time needed to refresh my soul. May I allow You to feed me at Your banqueting table and restore my soul.
